Pre-trip perceptions

We were told in the workshop to jot down our perceptions of Chinese and Singaporeans.

When the teachers look at our masterpieces, the answer was obvious; our perceptions of the Chinese weren’t very good. In fact, some of us had trouble thinking of good points belonging to the Chinese. Perhaps you may call this perceptions or stereotyping.

The ignorant we tend to relate the China workers we see in the local construction sites to the general Chinese in the People’s Republic of China. This is certainly inaccurate.

Well, in the end, all of us, including all the lecturers agree that we’ll all not draw conclusions about the Chinese until after our 12 days IBSM trip. Of course, provided if we really got to know more about them. =)
